Those who have the cause of peace at heart, welcome today Pope Francis‘ invitation for “a day of fasting and prayer, of penance, in which sisters and brothers of the various Christian denominations, and members of other religions and all those who have the cause of world peace at heart are invited to join, as they see fit”. He then urged believers “to take only one side in this conflict: that of peace; but not with words, with prayer, with total dedication”.
At 6pm, the Pope will preside over a moment of prayer in St. Peter’s Square. He asked all the Churches to participate, preparing initiatives involving the People of God. “Please do everything possible to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe”.
The Sisters of Charity have also decided to unite in fasting, prayer and penance, so that “let the weapons be silent, let the cry for peace of the poor, of the people, of the children be heard”.
