“From Bethany towards the global village”: this is the missionary mandate addressed to all participants during the Opening Prayer of the General Conference on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
The Opening Prayer featured three significant moments.
Mother General, sister Maria Rosa Muscarella, brought the Bible to the altar, a sign of our commitment and desire to live and keep the Word.
Lighted lamps, one for each territorial reality, were then brought to the foot of the altar. They are the sign of the Lord who remains in us, who illuminates with his Word the steps of our journey. They are signs of our common desire to abide in Him, in a mutual abiding to bear fruit.
As a sign of our openness to go out and go missionary in the world, in our peripheries, a number of newspapers were laid at the foot of the globe, symbolizing the current events we want to know, understand and serve today.
We wish all participants in the General Conference a great work.
