The kidnapped and released Sisters of Charity received the great joy of a phone call from Pope Francis!
Sister Gisèle, on behalf of all the Sisters, tells us: ‘The phone call from Pope Francis was a moment of grace and great joy! A strong sign of communion that instils hope’.
‘Pope Francis,’ Sister Gisèle continues emotionally, ’has very much encouraged us to continue our mission, after what has happened to us. He asked us to continue to witness to Christ, to pray for him, that he will pray for us’.
Pope Francis’ phone calls are now uncountable and not all of them are known. But for whoever receives them, as in this case the community of Bocaranga, they express his heart’s attunement to the other’s feelings, concerns and fears. And for those who receive them, they represent the closeness, the support, the encouragement of the whole Church.
Thank you, Pope Francis, and a hug to our Sisters of Bocaranga: may the strength and boldness of Saint Jeanne Antide be yours.
