It was with great joy that the Besançon Friends of Jeanne Antide met for their General Assembly on 12 May 2023 in Sancey, the birthplace of Jeanne-Antide. This joy was heightened by the presence of four members of the Friends of Savoie, including the President, Marie-Jo D.
The Chairman, Jean-Jacques B., gave an overview of the past year. The improved health situation had finally allowed activities to be carried out or continued more serenely:
- Meetings of reflection groups, which are very active in Sancey, Besançon, Bagnols sur Cèze and Grenoble.
- A pilgrimage in October to Cressier, Switzerland, in the footsteps of Jeanne Antide, to Le Landeron and to Enges. What a warm welcome in the Cressier community!
- The biannual day at Sancey, where Jeanne Antide lived, with a visit to the recently renovated house where she was born, and a discovery of the itineraries on the life of Jeanne Antide set up by the local community.
- And the traditional “solidarity sale”, the proceeds from which have helped to fund humanitarian work, mainly by the Fondation Thouret.
Of course, we shared a very pleasant meal with the sisters of the community! Then Sister Christine and Sister Bernadette took us beyond our borders to show us the life and commitment of the Communities in the world and more particularly in Cameroon with the community of Ngaoudal.
We are in awe of the concrete, daily actions of the Sisters, their imagination and determination to find answers to immense needs…. We understand better our humble presence at your side! We thank you all.
