From Sister Wandamaria‘s visit with the International Bureau for Education:

“Invited by the Oeuvre d’Orient to participate in the conference Transmitting in times of crisis, the two members of the central team of the Bureau, the General Councellor, Sister Wandamaria, and Sister Mirna, arrived in the land of the Pharaohs on 4 February 2024″.

L’Oeuvre d’Orient is a French Catholic and apolitical association that has been working with Christians in the East in 23 countries in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, Eastern Europe and India for over 170 years.

In times of war as in times of peace, it supports the work of bishops, priests and religious communities who help everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.

More than four hundred educational actors from different countries of the Middle East took part in the work and group reflection of the Fifth Edition of the Colloquia of the Francophone Schools of the Middle East:

“The testimonies coming from Syria, the Holy Land and Lebanon – Sister Mirna recounted – amazed the assembly with the courage and determination of religious and lay people who give their hearts and risk their lives every day to reach the school and revive hope in times of war and violence”.

This is what Mgr Gollnisch, director of l’OEuvre d’Orient, had to say at the closing of the 5th Colloque des écoles francophones du Moyen-Orient:

To transmit in times of crisis, we need to have clear ideas: we need to look at everyone with the humanity of Jesus. But we must also share our vision of human faith with those who do not have the same faith as we do. We also need to have a vision for the development of the Middle East. On this pilgrimage we can wish each other well”.

The meeting of heads of Egypt-Lebanon schools organised by the Provincial Council in Cairo began on 6 February 2025 with a prayer inspired by the Global Educational Pact.

Over the course of two days, the head teachers and principals discussed a number of topics, including the unification of the Educational Project of the schools in the Province, the Educational Intuition of Jeanne-Antide, the mission of the International Bureau of Education and partnerships.
