The school in Ndjamena, the capital of Chad, named after Saint Jeanne Antide, finally has all the primary school levels active.

As we have already told you, the Sainte Jeanne Antide Thouret school was also completely destroyed during the devastating floods that swept away houses and structures in the Ndou neighborhood.

Thanks to the considerable efforts of the people in the neighborhood and the support of various benefactors, the 2024-2025 school year is regularly taking place, after taking care of hiring and training teachers, administering entrance exams to students and enrolling them.

This is what Gregoire wrote to us on January 30, 2025:

“For the 2024-2025 school year, another level has been added to the other levels.

This means that the Sainte Jeanne Antide Thouret school has all levels of the primary cycle.

Another innovation: our students receive religious instruction thanks to the community of the Sisters of Charity.

The school has eight teachers and a caretaker. Their salaries depend on the number of students enrolled and the economic situation of those who attend. We are proud to say that the number of students is growing.

Currently:

  • Girls: 160
  • Boys: 187

The classrooms have been furnished, the office of the school principal is almost ready.

The second floor has also been completed.

Work is proceeding on the school’s façade and then we can turn our attention to the garden and the fence.

On behalf of all the members of the Santa Giovanna Antida school in Ndou, we would like to sincerely thank all our donors and benefactors, among whom we would like to mention Don Davide Lee and his parishioners of Santa Giovanna Antida in Rome, the Provincial Superior of Central Africa, Sister Paola, and Umberto from Sister Miche Larina’s Bambini group who constantly mobilize resources for the well-being and future of this school.

Thank you very much!
