We will learn about the collaboration of the Sisters of Charity with realities committed to the preservation of creation and the dissemination of the principles of the Encyclical Laudato Si’:

Father Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam, Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, recounts the importance of the introduction, following the Encyclical Laudato Si’, of the concept of Integral Ecology.

“[…] it is not only a problem of the environment, but it is also a social and spiritual problem.”
Father Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam

Human life is embedded in a network of relationships: relationship with God, relationship with neighbor and relationship with the Earth. Here, then, we are no longer dealing with simple environmentalism, but we are dealing with “a much more integral vision, where the dimensions of the Divine, the human and the earthly are intertwined”.

The Sisters of Charity decided to embrace this vision and, as Sister Mirna Farah, Cordinator of the International Integral Ecology Workshop, tells us, they “heard the cry of our Planet, heard the cry of the poor”.

“Today serving the poor is not just giving bread, today serving and loving the poor is already working to care for our Common House.”
Sister Mirna Farah

Together we get farther than alone. Tomás Insúa, Executive Director of the Laudato Si’ Movement, recounts the fruitful network that has been created thanks to the Laudato Si’ Movement, a fairly young reality in the life of the Church and at the service of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ Encyclical.

Also in this network are the Sisters of Charity, many of whom have decided to become Laudato Si’ Animators to help communities and parishes learn about and put the Encyclical into practice.

Laudato Si’ Circles were born within the Laudato Si’ Movement. This reality was told to us by Piera Savino, Circolo Laudato Si’ Roma Trastevere Referent. The collaboration of the Rome Trastevere Circle with the Sisters of Charity was born from a communion of intentions, which resulted in a celebration together of the Laudato Si’ Mass inside the garden of Casa Generalizia.
