Letter to the Vincentian Family in Ukraine and Eastern Europe
Dear Sisters and Brothers of our Vincentian Family National Council in the Ukraine, and all members of the Vincentian Family in Eastern Europe,
The world watches in horror, as once again violence and aggression dominate our news cycles. We cannot help but to hear the words of Pope Francis ring in our ears:
“Humanity, which prides itself on being ahead in science, in thought, in so many beautiful things, is lagging behind in weaving peace. It is a champion in making war….humanity still seems to be groping in the dark……Once again the peace of all is threatened by partisan interests with political responsibility to examine their consciences seriously before the God of peace and not of war, who is just Father of all, not just of some, who wants us to be brothers and not enemies.”
Many of us cannot imagine the devastation that is being done to the physical, emotional, economical, and spiritual life of our Vincentian Family, the poor whom you serve, and your fellow countrymen of good will.
We have prayed for peace, and will continue to pray for and with you that justice may prevail and that peace may come again to your lands.
If there is any way in which we may be of assistance to you, please let us know so that we may respond to you as the love of Christ compels us.
Please know that you do not stand alone during this time of trial. We will not and cannot abandon you.
United in prayer and our hope in the Risen Lord who conquered the power of sin and death,
The Vincentian Family Executive Committee and the international Vincentian Family Movement
