On Jan. 14, 2025, Sister Bernadette received the Medal of the Diocese of Westminster, London, for her services at Allen Hall Seminary.

The seminary had previously contacted Sister Letizia, who lives with her, to inform her that the priests of the diocese wished to acknowledge all that Sister Bernadette had done for them. The Abbot and the pastor of St. Benedict’s had already granted the request, but it was decided not to tell Sister Bernadette because she would have refused. The sister received the news the night before the presentation

Monsignor John Sherrington, auxiliary bishop of Westminster, celebrated the Mass, and in his homily, spoke of Sister Bernadette’s contribution to the formation of priests.

During the homily, he also recalled Sister Bernadette’s parish mission in Stock Newington and explained the charism of the congregation, which is present in many parts of the world, without knowing that it was the anniversary of the canonization of St. Jeanne Antide..

All the sisters read this as a sign that St. Jeanne Antide wanted to acknowledge the presence of the sisters in England.

The Abbey hosted a reception, a celebration for all present and a wonderful lunch for all. Sister Bernadette was also very surprised to welcome her sister and niece from Ireland.

It was indeed a blessed day and St. Jeanne Antide was celebrated in a very special way.

Three days later, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Metropolitan Archbishop of Westminster, phoned Sister Bernadette to thank her for her work at Allen Hall “Deo Gratias.”

One of the sisters said:

The presentation of the medal to Sister Bernadette was a true thanksgiving for all the Sisters of St. Jeanne Antide in many parts of the world.
