This year we are celebrating an extraordinary anniversary: the 800th anniversary of the first living nativity scene at Greccio, commissioned by St Francis of Assisi in 1223 and animated by an ardent desire “I would like to depict the Child born in Bethlehem, and somehow see with the eyes of the body the hardships in which he found himself for lack of the things necessary to an infant, how he was laid in a crib and how he lay on the hay between the ox and the ass”.

To pay homage to this tradition, which continues to brighten our Christmas, we invite you to share your nativity scenes with us.

Whether they are in community homes, schools, homes for the elderly, hospitals, Caritas, family homes, foyers, university colleges, prisons, houses of the AJA Friends… each crib, in its colourful details, tells a unique and special story!

Whether they are handmade works of art, enchanting in their traditional forms or bold in their modernity, each crib is a fragment of a larger story that speaks of faith, hope and love.

You can take a photo and send it free of charge to the number:

We also ask you to share with us the place where your nativity scene comes to life, who created it and what makes your representation so special.

The photos submitted will be collected and presented, on 23 December, in a digital mosaic on our website, creating a virtual gallery of the different expressions of this ancient tradition.
