Sister Paola Nelemta will also be part of the ‘team’.
The Secretary General of the Synod, Card. Grech, used a sports metaphor to present the participants of the next Synod, convened in the Vatican from 4 October 2023: For a synodal Church: communion, participation and mission.
There are 364 – including Pope Francis – members with voting rights, including 264 cardinals and bishops, 27 priests and religious, 25 consecrated women, 15 lay people and 29 lay women. There will therefore be 54 women in all (15%).
Experts and Facilitators also participate in the dynamics of the Synodal Assembly: there are over 50 of them so far – the names and total numbers are not final as yet, Card. Grech – and among them also Sister Paola Nelemta, the Provincial Superior of the Central African Province.
The experts participate as guests but are not members of the Synod, they cooperate with the Secretaries by virtue of their specific expertise. Facilitators have the task of facilitating the exchange in the so-called Lesser Circles.
The Synod is an exciting process for the whole Church: we wish Sister Paola and everyone to get involved in this process that inextricably links the Church with its origins and opens it to God’s future.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus
who reveal to the humble and the poor
your great works done in silence
far from the tumult of the powerful and the proud.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus
that you arouse amazement in the hearts of those who,
like Mary at Cana in Galilee
trusts in your Word
and believes beyond all hope.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus
who tenderly love all men
and pour into their hearts the gifts of your Holy Spirit.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus
who call us to walk as Church
in the search for your will
to rediscover together the joy of the Gospel.
Glory to you, Lord Jesus.
