Only self-giving love remains

On Friday 9th June and Friday 16th June 2017, a small but significant booklet has been presented to the people of the Diocese of Novara. This booklet contains some testimonials and a profile of the life as Sister of Charity: Sr. Nemesia Mora.

Who is this sister of Charity?

At the end of her service as Ward Sister in the Major Hospital of Novara, Sr. Nemesia, with a group of voluntary doctors and nurses wanted to materialise an initiative to help those who couldn’t afford to cure themselves. Hence the Clinic of Immediate Aid emerged to offer gratuitous health assistance to persons in need, without distinction of race, religion or origin. A brilliant and prophetic intuition which accomplished concretely the Gospel of Charity, lived according to the charism of St. Jeanne Antide.

The clinic starts its activities in 1996 and is formally established on the 31st January 1997. Down the years, the clinic offered assistance to thousands of people, foreigners and Italians, women, children, adults and elderly. Later, besides the clinic’s activities are added the centre for the distribution of clothes and shower service;  at the moment another project called “The tent of Sara” is being set up near the clinic : it’s a centre that distributes foodstuffs and children’s clothes to support mothers in difficulty.

The entire last part of Sr. Nemesia’s existence has been therefore dedicated to this innovative service, always attentive to intuit the true needs of the poor and always ready to pay personally.

Sr. Nemesia assured her presence of service and coordination in the Clinic until August 2015. She passes away a year later, on the 17th July 2016 at the age of 86.

Sr. Nemesia, a woman with a passion for God and the poor is today a witness of experienced charity, open to the gift of self, with a sole goal: God alone and Jesus Christ to be served in the person of the poor.
